Uniform

Uniform is a key part of dance classes, primarily so that the students can move best. Teachers need to be able to see the lines of the students' bodies in order to ensure proper technique is being learned from the start of their training. Putting on uniform and doing hair puts the students in the right frame of mind for class, marking it out as something different to everyday activities. Hair is equally important for students to be able to see and specifically learn turns (where the head is whipped round).

This is a non uniform class - wear any combo of leotard, leggings, shorts, vests etc!

Shorts (black)

Any black cycling shorts are acceptable to go over/under leotard.

Dance socks (black or pink)

These are thin + breathable and best suited for dance especially Ballet where the shoes should be snug.

Ballet shoes (black or pink)

Black or pink permitted - pink will be required for Ballet exams.

Tap shoes (black)

Our shoes have velcro fastening - if you opt for secondhand please aim to find ones similar. Ours are the Capezio Terra.

Ballet tights (pink)

Crossover (mulberry) - optional

This is a dance wrap the students can wear throughout class to keep warm and enable us to still see the lines of their body.

Headband (black or mulberry) - optional

Scrunchie (black or mulberry) - optional

The students change their kit in the class, starting with Tap followed by Modern then Ballet. For Tap they wear their leotard with shorts over the top OR tights underneath plus tap shoes. Then they change into Ballet shoes and finally add their Ballet skirt.

Convertible tights (black)

These tights are worn with tap shoes and then for Modern (bare foot) the tights are 'converted' to footless via the hole at the bottom. Your own lightweight black leggings or black shorts are also an option with socks for Tap then taken off for Modern.
